I used to play this one ALL the time in High School. I am assuming the arcade game uses tables to read the enemy x movement, y movement and direction, and number of frames.
As usual your awesome Bob. Then he picks up very shortly after the New Year.
So I think once I get the enemy movement down, the rest of the game should fall into place.Does anyone have any insight as to how the arcade version does movement?
I was out of town over the last week, and I come back to see you're back in full swing!
I didn't want to re-invent the wheel by going frame by frame and writing them all down (plus that would take forever), plus it looks like there are three or four possible paths for the enemies to take, depending if they are entering, circling, attacking, etc...All of the graphics are done (but you can't see them just yet, because I have no movement tables), the ship multi-part, and the stage handling.
Please let me know when and if it will be available and thanks again.
I hate this game so much I love it.
Or (assuming they do use tables which I believe they do), know how to read the tables from the arcade version?
This is a challenging game that will keep your attention and keep you coming back for more. If you ever got the feeling that Galaga was just a little too easy, you really should check out Moon Cresta because I honestly believe this to be the most difficult space shooter that was ever created!
The aliens are more and more likely to re-emerge from the bottom of the screen after passing the player's ship.
As brutal as the arcade version which of course means it's a fantastic port. I have fond memories of playing a shooter called Moon Cresta at that arcade, so I was stoked when AtariAge published a port of the game for the Atari 7800 .
In the meantime, I will try and capture the movement.Hey Bob that's awesome! I went wild searching Google for a disassembly, source code, or anyone with information about the tables of movement for the enemies but I couldn't come up with anything.
Every two waves of aliens have different entrance sequences, attack sequences, and point values. After you eliminate the first four waves of aliens, if you have any ships in reserve you will be given an opportunity to dock with your next ship.
Looking forward to seeing it progress.
As usual your awesome Bob. I really like that you use the classic 8-Bit type faces you make the 7800 look like a real solid system thank you for your hard work!I loved this game.
Maybe I do, not at the moment. Each round consists of ten waves of aliens, and two sets of docking sequences (provided you have a ship left to dock with). This one is just about arcade perfect. We only have a limited number of boxes for each game, and there is no guarantee they will become available again once our supplies are exhausted. The background stars twinkle, the aliens dance around in their psychotic patters, and this port even features the docking levels just like the arcade version did. I remember one of these machines in a local K-mart vestibule.
Hi Guys: This started out as a secret project of mine, and I wasnt going to say anything until it was completed, but I may need some help. it's very well programmed. The classic arcade game Moon Cresta has now made its way to the Atari 7800! This started out as a 'secret' project of mine, and I wasn't going to say anything until it was completed, but I may need some help.
