'The Witcher' is Netflix's brilliant adaptation of the fantasy novels from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and you should absolutely watch it whether or not you've read the books. Also No idea of the budget but it looks cheap to the point of absurdity much like the writing and direction. My only concern is that the right people were cast for the right parts, and from where I’m standing this is entirely the case. Finally, the music and special effects are terrific.
Suffice to say, I think they do a great job on narrative structure but you may be left scratching your head for a while.Instead of a clear, overarching plot that ties everything together (think After all, the short stories were much like this.
One story from The rest of the cast is also impeccable.
Sapkowski, and you should absolutely watch it whether or not you've read the books. Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. Later, after magic becomes the center of her life and she changes in so many drastic ways, Chalotra captures both her devil-may-care side and the deeper motivations that truly make her tick perfectly.Freya Allen as Ciri is perhaps the least developed of the three primary protagonists at this point, but she is young and naive and hers is a true coming-of-age story that I suspect will continue beyond this season and truly blossom in Season 2.
Cavill just Truly, Cavill has exceeded any and every expectation I had, and dashed all my doubts about the casting choice. And thats ok for a Sunday afternoon who cares but expected and wanted so much more for witcher series. The show is so damn cheesy.
The only time a casual audience turns on a show for it's writing is when a show begins with a good solid narrative and story progression but falls off (See G.O.T.)
I‘ll try tomorrow again.Same here. **This contains small spoilers** Thanks for being honest. what makes it worse is they compare it to GOT, which GOT is the best show by far.If you didn’t read the books or play the games, it’s easily a 3/10 maybe 4/10 if you’re generousGOT was enjoyable (read understandable) without ever reading the books. This show is a mashup of a bunch of unexplained stuff.Didn't read the books or play the games, you nailed it for me. The princess Renfri who you’ll meet in the first episode could very well be a lead in her own story, and Emma Appleton does such an outstanding job you’ll wish she had a bigger part to play.
That shouldn’t be too surprising. I hope to have a second review later on when I can discuss everything in more detail from start to finish. There are other characters like the bard Jaskier (aka Dandelion, played by Joey Batey) and the wizard Mousesack (Adam Levy) and many, many others whose names are all difficult to catch and recall, and whose roles in the very complex politics of The Continent—broken down roughly into the Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire in the south—are often difficult to grasp.Indeed, the one thing that I worry viewers might dislike about The point is, if you’re curious about this show and want to know if it’s for you, I very much think you should watch it, but you might need to do a little extra legwork to make sure you’re following the plot and all its myriad characters. This is also because the show does not offer up a clear and definitive conflict right from the get-go. Ciri’s story is tied closely to that of both her parents and grandparents, and especially to her grandmother the queen. I’m sure this part will be just as controversial as On the other hand, I think it’s equally absurd to critique the Netflix show of too much diversity or—as I’m sure we’re about to hear a lot of on social media—“forced diversity”. The show is basically xena warrior princess. Cavalier and chaotic at first but, slowly growing to embrace the destiny he spends most of the series, denying.Yennifer has a swift arc from weak and victim to rebel to responsible and powerful to ... something transcend that is yet to come.Ciri has least direct focus, most of her thread is about the situation and people around her but, the actress is a good performer and towards the end of the series she too begins to work to her destiny. The scenes between Yennifer and Geralt are great.
It’s the shittiest, crappiest, most overrated show in years, maybe decades. The storytelling is shit, the visuals are shit, the acting is shit, there is absolutely nothing about it that isn’t shit.I guess a buff guy in a blonde wig just makes enough people wet or hard for this shit to be a hit.I quit after episode three, and I played all the games and read the books including the short stories.I couldn‘t even finish the third episode.
Even if you have read the books, you might not be entirely clear on the setup here because, as I’ve noted, the order of events is strung together just so.
