Its loud, but the guitar distortion feels weak and likewise the female lead vocals cant carry out the rocking atmosphere.

Not that this was much of a surprise- Donelly frankly never impressed me much when she was in both The Breeders and Throwing Muses (she did contribute a couple of decent cuts while in the latter group but was always definitely in Hersh's shadow).

Disintegration: Remastered [Vinyl] It was different music, sweet music that was good both slow and fast. Includes Album Cover, Release Year, and User Reviews.

Star, an Album by Belly. I like them even better than the Breeders.

It lacks the bite of Pixies, of course, but then Tanya Donnelly ain't no Black Francis - hell, she ain't no Kim Deal either - but when it does connect, it does so blissfully - as in the singles Gepetto and Feed The Tree.

This album never gets boring. Elsewhere it's a bit twee - the tunes simply aren't strong enough - but if you want a nice (oh, how I hate that word), pleasant (yeeuch) album to have on the backgr... ok, enough already.Such an odd album, not sure what it was trying to be. I listened to the CDs so many times they wore out and I had to replace them.

Lyrics. The only disappointment is the vinyl pressing. It must be one of Tanya Donelly's great albums in her entire career. This is about the third time. The songs stay with you. I've loved this album since I bought it the first time in 1993. After playing supporting roles in Throwing Muses and the Breeders, Tanya Donelly proves she's got the vision/songs/smarts to pilot her own vehicle. Played this to death on my cassette player in my VW camper back in the 90s, so just had to have a CD version of it in the 2000s.

I had heard about Belly for a long time but never actually made the effort to listen to them for years. I remember not paying too attention years ago when I bought the CD version. There have been some bands I've liked in the past that I don't like anymore (good Charlotte, goo goo Dolls, the killers) but I know belly will never be on that list

It's enjoyable as it is but if there's only three songs I want to go back to then this album has a lot of missed potential. There was something about this early 90's period of 4AD releases - they created a sound - in the same as say, Postcard did 10 years earlier in Scotland - this was the sound of Boston Mass - and it has a certain charm. The LP 1 is marbled light blue and the LP 2 is marbled light pink. Don't be afraid of liking "pretty" music.

Its a really fun record it manages to find a fine line between really poppy catchy hooks with childlike lyrics but yet at the same time sound extremely credible.
