Other pressings of this great album are mostly quite bad, murky and such! Official Release #13 I’ve compared it with the version TCM broadcasted several years ago and, yes, this 2018 has been cropped. All pressings appear to be made at Warner Bros. But this one, recommended! What we lose most is the top and bottom of the original format.

To expand on what I said: of course I have only heard about how bad most pressings were, outside of the two I had before I got this NM version.

Band [The Mothers], Vocals, Performer [Special Material]Band [The Mothers], Voice [Voice Of The Bad Conscience] This pressing has black vinyl and POD labels - disc 1 white letters on blue label, disc 2 blue letters on white label. This most certainly was not made at the UA plant they typically use. I have a copy with the cover stating UDF 50003, although the records are 50001 & 50002 The original 200 Motels (1971) was the first Zappa album I bought, a double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

The discs had been inserted into the sleeve in the wrong order, so I listened to side three (beginning with "I'm Stealing the Towels") first. I can only compare to the Italian and US pressing of this title, the former from 1981 and the other a first pressing, but this one trumps them in clarity and detail and dynamics, while on top of that, it is a dead silent one, I can only wonder what the first remaster from 1977 sounded like, but I think this Pathe pressing plant was very good, I have other records that came from there in that period and they are spotless!
