I sent countless emails that went unanswered to upper management about the dangers of understaffing at this place. I loved the job but management was the worst.
I was the only full time evening counselor for the last three months I worked at Renfrew. They should be reviewed by medical authorities. Our daughter even signed forms allowing us to have full release of all information regarding her treatment status. Everyone from my therapist to my psychiatrist and all of the counselors were thoroughly disappointing and frustrating. Privately owned company. Unfortunately, the upper management, a portion of the clinical/dept managers and the owner are truly only money driven. The pay does not compensate the work you are expected to accomplish and I often felt unsupported and taken advantage of. During the day Renfrew had four counselors on the floor and typically four to five nurses. Just Don't All the clinicians are wonderful, but the management and higher ups make it basically impossible for you to deliver sufficient patient care. Nursing staff dwindled too as time went on. Recovery is a process over time. However after only three days of my daughter being there, we have no answers why she was discharged, they did not offer us a payment plan, just said insurance wouldn't pay. Most of my patients had programming all day long.

Especially after seeing years later that way better treatment exists, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had adolescents who were forced into treatment by their families and did not want to be in treatment. My daughter came home with more problems than she went in with. I had one patient who had made a habit of jumping out her window after nine pm snack. Tough to get budget for projects. The security guard and myself were constantly hunting her down.
Nursing staff dwindled too as time went on. Very micro managed! I'm so thankful that I gave Renfrew a try and grateful for the amazing frew crew.The staff members were horribly disrespectful and did not seem to care about the patients at all. You will find plenty of resistance from the staff and therapists the more you ask or question their practices. Find another option if at all possible.We are sorry to hear you didn't feel supported during your time at Renfrew. I've been to multiple facilities for treatment, and Renfrew is the only one that has really worked for me. The Renfrew Center has a very complex management structure.The Renfrew Center of Coconut Creek Fla is not a place you want to work.
