So I did finish the book.By the time I finished this book, I’d read the phrase “beautiful boy” like a million times (obviously an exaggeration, but it was a LOT of times) and I was so tired of hearing about Malachiasz being this broken, beautiful boy.I was really shipping Nadya with someone else, but that obviously didn’t pan out for me, and it won’t lol. This, right here, this beautiful boy and his monstrous power and his lies and the knowledge that nothing mattered, they would always betray each other in the end.I must admit I skim-read this to avoid spoilers but I’m so curious by this friend-ship pair. Emily Duncan is a genius and she seriously makes the best monster boys ever.
I can easily imagine these war-torn places and sympathize with their struggles. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. This series, the content in these books, the twisty story of betrayal and blood and more betrayal, is both worthy of love and full of frustration for me.

Easily best book I’ve read of 2020. Nadya had so much more to learn about the gods who had touched her and led her down this dark and terrible path. What I really loved about the first book was the dynamic between all the characters. The horrors, that these characters face throughout Ruthless Gods, also come alive before the readers' eyes. Ruthless Gods (Book) : Duncan, Emily A. : Baker & TaylorA sequel to the best-selling Wicked Saints finds Nadya desperately seeking answers from the increasingly persistent voices Serefin hears in the darkness, while Malachiasz fights with his monstrous nature in a gothic and icy world. My biggest issue with Ruthless Gods … Emily A. Duncan has an amazing talent for laying out a gothic world. [even with all that, he still continued to lie to poor Nadya and then would choose his kingdom over Nadya while sprouting more lies.
