About Olgierd/Gauntier it was difficult for me because from the role-playing perspective I wasn't sure Geralt would want to mess with someone powerful as Gauntier while not being really sure who the hell he is. I didn't even think that was an option. I didn't like Olgierd much; after finding out about his backstory, I did feel a bit of pity for him but not enough to save him. Didn't know there was another item you could get until I saw some videos. Don't forget he only turned to Master Mirror after his love was taken from him - after all Iris' parents separated them bacause of him losing his estate and fortune and losing all that at once was definitely what pushed him towards desperate means. Tbh Olgierd seemed to me a jerk even before the deal with O'Dimm if you listen to Vlodmir stories of their stunts.All true, though I believe a lot of Olgierd's reprehensible behavior towards Iris began before his deal with O'Dimm. I interpreted it as her soul being trapped in the Painted World, and the only way she could be at peace, move on and go to Witcher heaven or what not was to destroy the Painted World. Olgierd didn't know he would morph into such a monster, that's quite the mitigating factor.Not sure "ass" quite covers it, when he sacrificed his own I think the "good" ending is much more interesting than the bad one, although not stepping in seems like a more Geralty thing to do. If you kill Ewald and Horst and mention it to Olgierd, Geralt indicates he would do the same to Olgierd for using him. But those are just my two cents (even more judging be the long post).As far as I can tell, the order of events are as thus:Olgierd was supposed to marry his love, but misfortune befell him and thanks to the auction house's meddling and insistence he became bankrupt overnight and Iris's parents rejected the marriage.Here he curses the prince, but nothing actually happens.In his desperation O'Dimm responds to his calls, granting him back his wealth and estate, while ensuring that Iris is available for marriage (by fulfilling Olgierd's earlier curse - he remarks that the curse didn't take hold immediately but only later).

I think Olgierd was kind of a scumbag in life as well. Now, before you all go on about how you treat all people as equals, especially your lover, let me say this: bullsh*t.

The real Olgierd von Everec was a guy who loved his wife sincerely and had some heroic qualities. The trick to a happy relationship is seeing each other as complete equals. If we could, humans would prevent natural disasters from occurring, and I took the same approach to O'Dimm. I think she could see Olgierd from that painting.
