He and his wife, Sarah, set up and ran a costume jewellery business in the 1980’s but since 1988 he has worked full-time as a gardening author, journalist and broadcaster.Monty has gardened on television for over twenty years. Monty Don is a well-known garden writer and broadcaster. He was brought up in Hampshire, educated at a variety of schools and at Magdalene College, Cambridge.
