I totally disagree! I went in September, so maybe that has something to do with it.One of our absolute favorite beaches to snorkel.

Black Rock beach is very popular (and nearby), BUT the parking spaces allocated for the public are minimal, which means you are SOL.We came here to do what I love most about being at a beach....SNORKEL! How could anyone rate this place less than 5 stars?

There is a pavilion with benches and picnic tables. This beach is beautiful and conveniently located close to one of the resorts that I was hanging out at.

If locals don't swim in those beaches, there is usually a good reason. There is a nice grassy area to hang out and palm trees to seek shade. I hung out at this beach the first night I was in Maui and got a good view of the sunset. Great walking path and people watching.

Right? Driving isn't the hard part, but finding parking is. Perfect for the scaredy-cat in the group.I really like this beach. 7/15,/2015. Not a lot of shade, but if you get there early you can get some of the tree shade. The snorkeling is the best I've found on the Island and only feet away from the shoreline. Kahekili Beach Park is also a favorite place for diving outfits to take beginning divers. Closer to the black rock side is nice and sandy, you'll often see people paddle boarding and snorkeling, and in front of Duke's offers an amazing view of the Molokai, Lanai, sometimes some local surfers, and of course, the magical Maui sunset. The beach is completely different during the day and towards the end of the week. That is just a phrase to talk about the resort thinking they have the best snorkel spot on all the islands!

This place for me at least had the easiest in and out with great sand.

This is s=extremely sad news for this area. By 11am it was full.

I didn't see any airplanes around.

Kahekili Beach Park has a large free parking lot.

I had the entire beach to myself. So many different types of fish for everyone to check out. My 11 year old spent hours snorkeling while my 6 year old played in the shallows and sand. Good snorkelling, suitable for beginners, free parking but it gets full by 11:00. The beach/snorkeling area is a nice, simple place to get into the swing of Island time. It has decent parking with bathrooms.

The water is really clear in this area and you can see lots of reef fish when snorkeling. Kahekili Beach Park is located just north of Ka'anapali Beach on the west coast of Maui.Just like Ka'anapali Beach, this is another resort area so the beach along here is also lined with resorts.The most notable resort here is The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas which is a super-ultra-mega resort. I snorkeled a good portion of this and I found it to be more murky then other Hawaiian beaches and a very limited amount of tropical fish! Not much shade so bring a beach umbrella if you don’t want too much sun.

Tourists don't know this beach has been polluted with sewage injections and causing health issues to both humans and corals.

The water here is amazing, warm and clean. I loved taking romantic walks here. It can get busy in mid-day or late afternoon.My favorite west side beach for a sunset run and a quick dip in the ocean.

We took our boys here the 1st day we arrived to introduce them to snorkeling and this was AMAZING!
